Smile Help me plan a No Cal bike vacation

Hi everyone in northern California! Coming up from the central coast area for my father's 80th b-day the last week of October, and will have 5 days to drive and ride around before driving home. DH and I were thinking of bringing out mt bikes (we are rookies) and looking for nice places to ride and visit. I have heard of Mt Talmalpais - would that be fun? I have a huge allergy to poison oak, so heavily wooded single track might be something I wouldn't want to do. Thanks for any suggestions! Tokie

Well, you're safe then because the only legal singletrack that I know of on Mt Tam is the Coastal Trail and I think you could stay out of the poison oak on it (otherwise my DH would have spent the next two weeks in horrendous pain).

But you can make a fabulous circuit around Mt Tam on the dirt roads (24 miles). I might be able to track down a jpg scan of the route we like. It is a wonderful ride.

Located the pdf file of the map scan. It's 4 MB. PM your email address if you'd like it.
