    fun sprint tri in UK

I know it's a long shot, but does any one of you know of a fun sprint tri somewhere in UK? A couple of friends and I are considering doing a tri together, but don't know of a good one to aim for. Ideally a fun one, not a serious super competitive one. We are all beginners in at least one sport (one girl can barely ride a bike, the other can barely swim yet). We're just looking for something to aim for as a motivation for training and learning new skills. I'm based in Wales and the other two are based in Essex. They are both scared of hills, so somewhere in the southeast would probably be best. Anyone know of anything?

I assume that you know of the Aber tri club. If not, then here they are:

They run an aquathlon series every spring, one of my sisters took part a couple of years ago and enjoyed herself; in summer they have a triathlon but I somehow think that the bike ride involves hills.

I can also ask the other sister which tris she has done and which are the most fun.

How about the Timex WomenOnly tri at Dorney lake?

Dorney lake is just off the M4 near Eton, so it shouldn't be too hard for any of you to get to.

    Thanks Bron!
That Timex one looks good, especially since they have a novice section with a very short swim and the bike section is without traffic.
I have heard of Cerist Tri club and have checked out their web-site. They have regular swim and run training which would be good, but Machynlleth is just a little far to go so I will make do with what's on offer at the gym here at Uni.

You're welcome. I hope you all have fun.

According to my sister and Dad, the Cerist tri Earlybird aquathlon series was fun and not too intimidating. I think they got Dad to help with timing for one event and were trying to persuade him to actually give the event a go.

My family don't live too far from Aber, so I know the area.
