That time again - Intro to Women's racing rides

Intro to Women’s Cycling and Racing Teams

    Sundays
    September 20 and 27
    October 4
    Seattle

Join us for the fourth annual Intro to Women’s Cycling and Racing Teams! In late September and early October, a combination of women from many of the local racing teams will host Sunday rides similar to the Meet the Teams rides, with the exception that this ride is for women only, and each ride is hosted by women representatives from multiple teams. If you are new to the racing community, looking to strengthen or improve your riding skills, thinking about racing in 2010, or looking to speak with other women about local racing teams or riding opportunities, this ride’s for you!

    Here are further details:

Dates: September 20, September 27, and October 4

Time: 9:00 AM at Pert’s in Leschi. Prepare to be on the road by 9:10 AM. Please don't be late!

Route: south end of Lake Washington

Skills: pacelines, riding a straight line, and racing tactics/techniques. Depending on turnout, we'll break into groups no greater than 10 to keep it manageable and go over the basics, making sure to keep things fun and not stressful.

Bakery stop: Pert’s either before or after for scones & coffee.

Not to mention my team's meet the team ride the day before! September 19th also leaving from Leshi, but at 9:30 - more details about all of the meet the team rides can be found here http://www.wsbaracing.com/meet_the_teams
and of course I'd be more than happy to answer any questions.

    Bump again!

Women's Rides begin this Sunday - you don't have to be a racer to join us.

Our Team Group Health, Meet the Team ride is this Saturday.
Meeting time is 9:00 am and we will roll at 9:30. We will meet at Starbucks at Leschi and follow the usual South End of the Lake route. The pace is casual. You should be prepared with extra tubes, pump, food, water etc. to support yourself on an approximately 2 hour ride. For any women planning on racing at Star Crossed in the afternoon there will be a group of cyclocross team members staying at Starbucks for coffee and “meet the team” if you want to save your legs for racing.

We also have an application now available online (follow the link to our web site in my signature line) for women interested in joining the team. You do not have to come to the meet the team ride to join, but having someone know your name and face sure is helpful - we will have team members at all of the Sunday Women's rides. If you are a spectator at a local cross race you're more than likely to see team members too. Applications will be accepted through October 23, so there's still plenty of time to get to know us.

Thanks for the reminder! Since I'm down in Oregon, I just checked OBRA and discovered our women's ride (there's only 1) is next weekend. I'm definitely going to check it out. I'm not sure if joining a team is right for me, but I guess I'll find out.
