    So I crashed, too

Yesterday, my fault. Daydreaming and got too close to the edge of the road, hit a seam and dropped off the pavement, overcompensated and ended up skidding across the pavement.

Bruises on left wrist, index finger and thumb. Left elbow and thigh are bruised and pretty bad road rash on my left shin/calf/knee.

A guy stopped and tried to help me but I rode on for about 4 miles, albeit slowly, bleeding all over the place. Finally stopped and called my husband to come and pick me up.

I can't see where my helmet hit the pavement but I think it did. My neck hurts and my head hurts, so I wouldn't be surprised if I don't have a mild concussion. I am going to replace the helmet; I was due for a new one anyway.

I think the bike frame is ok but one of the hoods is sideways and something on a tire is rubbing, so I'll take it for a once over.

I was going to do a sprint tri next week but am going to scrap that. What a big dummy I am!

Sorry to hear about your accident andglad you walked away but it wouldn't hurt to go get checked out (Xrays, etc) especially if you even think you may have hit your head-maybe you actually did and don't recall. You say that your head and neck are still hurting...al lot of times the next day after an accident always hurts more but
seriously you prob should go to the ER and get looked at just to be sure.

Very sorry to hear about your crash. I hope both you and your bike are okay today!

My boyfriend and I rode along the Hudson and up to Riverside yesterday...a nice ride, but SO hot and with far too many people present. I've decided that, like running, I greatly prefer riding on more secluded routes, where I can be as fast as I want to be and not as worried about anticipating what other cyclists/walkers/runners are going to do.

I also let myself get a little too dehydrated during the ride, which obviously wasn't advantageous to me (or my boyfriend--the poor guy had to deal with me nearly breaking down because I needed more water). Not the most inspiring ride of my life, but all in all, I kept a good pace and enjoyed some very pretty scenery. And the slight breeze created by biking is always a welcome relief to me--you don't get that with running!

Slow, I'm glad you weren't hurt worse. The good thing is you have access to an X-ray and can check on your bumps and bruises. Hopefully you will only need some down time to heal. Sending good thoughts and well wishes to you and your bike.
