    CrankBrothers Quattros Discontinued

Does anyone else have CrankBrothers Quattro pedals? They've been discontinued! I guess the fact that I've never seen these pedals on another bike besides mine should be a clue as to why they're not making them anymore. But I love them and I'm sad that they've gone to pedal heaven. I think I'll try to pick up another set on ebay.

Yeah, I have and like them--and bought an extra pair on Ebay not long after they announced the discontinuation. I think, though, that they have other current pedals that would suffice if necessary.

I love my Quattros (and the fact that they match my blue bike) What a bummer!

    Bumping this thread....

Tighten the screws in sides of your pedals, ladies. Anybody else had trouble with parts falling off?

I went for my first ride of the season a couple of weeks ago, and heard a metallic "ting!!" sound. Unclipped to find the outer stainless steel shield was missing from one pedal, so went back and got it. I lost one of the inner ones within a month of getting the pedals a couple of years ago, but didn't realize it at the time, so never recovered it. It didn't look important, so I've ridden without it since. Well, the outer one covers the end of the pedal spindle, with exposed grease and (I assume) access to the bearings. Upon inspection, I also found that all the screws were missing from that pedal, and the last inner shield is just stuck on there at the moment. Right now we have a whole lot of grit on the roads from winter slat/sanding, and it's all blowing around - not a good time for exposed bearings.

I was going to try to buy screws at Ace or McMaster-Carr, but it turns out the screws from opposite sides attach to a common 3rd piece (or it's a nipple attached to one of them). And not a readily-available size/length. No luck - some kind of Crank Brothers-specific set-up. Took it to the shop, and Crank Brothers is going to send replacement parts. I don't know how long they'll have replacement parts available, since the Quattro was discontinued. I consider myself lucky on the timing, and thought I'd pass it along to those who love their Quattros. I want mine to live to a ripe old age.

I'd have tightened these periodically, but I think it's an M4 allen wrench (something I don't seem to have, or can't locate easily in my house). Close to a 3/32, which seemed right on a couple, and too small on a couple of others (??? Rounded out from previous tightenings??).

Had I been more diligent on this, my pedal wouldn't be falling apart. Fortunately, my LBS owner is lending me some Eggbeaters of his, so I'm able to ride until the fix is done.
