AAA begins offering roadside assistance -- for bicycles
Posted by Joseph Rose, The Oregonian July 09, 2009 09:33AM
Apparently, there's room for a "B" in the AAA.

Starting today, the national club once known as the American Automotive Association will offer roadside assistance for bicyclists - but only in Oregon and parts of Idaho.

"We're the first AAA chapter in the country to try this," said Marie Dodds, spokeswoman for the AAA of Oregon and Idaho. "It only makes sense, since bicycling is such a popular transportation option in this part of the country."

*sigh* I've wanted to move to Oregon for quite a while (Eugene in particular), the bicycle-friendly aspect of it being only one of many reasons. Just haven't managed to work the job/housing situation to make it happen, though.

Oregon is a pretty cool place.

Random Oregon thread drift warning: I was wondering - we are motoing up through there in a few weeks, and this question occurred to me: do you know if gas stations insist on filling the tank of your motorcycle in the same way that they insist on filling you car? Just wondering. Filling a motorcycle can be a little tricky.

British Columbia Automobile Associaton launched their road assist program as of June 1, 2009.

Media release that was sent to the newspapers in our province:

At every bike valet service, we've had so far in past 2 months, we have seen advertising for this.
