Energy boosting snacks on long rides

What do you eat for an energy boost when you take a break on long rides?
I usually eat some fruit, or my "Fruity Oaties". The recipe is in the TE Cookbook.

For lunch I might eat a turkey sandwich and some more fruit. Of course I drink lots of water while I'm riding. My son gave me a Camelbak for Christmas and I love it!

    Depends how long!

These days for any ride under fifty miles it's just Gels and I prefer Powerbar or Gu's. I think they give me more bang for my buck!

When I lived in Lake Placid, we'd always find away to stop at Merrick's Bakery in Wadhams, NY on our 50 mile plus rides. Their scones and muffins were magical and we'd always discover an unknown gear after eating them.

On my one and only century, I really enjoyed the PB + Fluff sandwiches on wonderbread that the feed stations had.

Over 80 miles, some protein really helps. I like tuna salad or egg salad. (No, I don't carry them in my jersey pocket. )

Today was hot! I rode 41 miles. I ate several kinds of fruit and drank lots of water! I had my turkey sandwich with cheese and a dill pickle for lunch.

Today I had peanut butter and jelly. That was the best peanut butter and jelly sandwich I think I've ever had! (I was really getting hungry!)
