    July 7-12 runs

OK, I guess I'll start the thread.
I haven't run in a week. I decided to give it a rest as I figured out that most of my weird stuff I've been experiencing is just a fibro. flare up. My experiment proved that running isn't aggravating anything, though, since the symptoms didn't really abate. However, it's winding it's course and since i know I am not going to die from this by now, I go on. The week off did give my cranky hip a chance to rest.
Today I ran 3.6 miles with a .4 mile warm up and a half a mile cool down. The cross street into my neighborhood is blocked off, so I couldn't do a loop and I had to run a course with more rollers/and climbing. I did figure out that I could run to the Old North Bridge and back and do a 10.k probably. That's my next goal.
I was slow, but I am going for distance right now and then will work on speed. I don't want to stress myself too much. The first 2 miles I had a 10:40 av and the last 1.6 miles it dropped to 12.20. Weird, since I felt strong and like I was going faster at the end.
Oh, and I noticed during the week I didn't run that my weight crept up a pound or two, even with riding. Great, now I have one more thing I can't stop doing...

Today was my first day back running since the stellar sprint tri that had me racing so hard I thought I might have broken my toe when I noticed it hurt like mad the following day.

I decided to start back gradually going about 3miles to see how it felt before going further. There was some construction on my route that detoured me making it a 4.25 run but I didn't mind because it felt GREAT to run again!!

Good news is that my toe doesn't look to be broken after all. Everything felt normal during the run. Woohoo! So relieved about that.

Bad news is that I answered my cell 1/2 way into my run to hear that a friend's husband passed away last night, very unexpected & unfortunate circumstances. I did not know him well, but it was an emotional run after that. I needed to get home & call other friends of her's to see how I could help console. This is not a pleasant reason to have a fast pace.

Tough way to start the week, but I'm glad I can at least use the time running as a chance to pray/work through it.

I need some advice on what shorts you ladies wear when running. I keep trying my running skirts that I adored last year and for some reason can't get comfortable with them this year. Maybe my HIM body has something to do with it? Dunno. But my dislike of the skirt got worse today when I realized that the back had somehow gotten tucked into my hydration belt as I ran exposing just the fitted boyshort bottoms to the world with nothing covering them. Yikes! Anyway, suggestions would be great.

Right now I run in baggy crop pants :-)
    But usually tri-shorts.

I did an interval run for 25-30 minutes. I had to push the kid in the baby jogger. It was hard!

I prefer short tights with an inseam of 7" or so, so they don't ride up. But for some reason they're really hard to find, especially with a gusseted crotch.

I also have one pair of V-notch shorts with a liner brief and one pair of looser fitting shorts that I wear with a pair of Ibex briefs.

I bought 4 different running bottoms this year. Three are from Nike: one traditional looking running shorts, with the difference being the liner is spandex and feels like bike shorts, not those mesh things I hate. I don't think traditional running shorts flatter me too much, but these are OK. They are not too short. Then I bought a pair of knee length shorts that are like tights, but have a wide waist band and are really flattering. They hit me just above the knee. Finally, I got a pair of running knickers that are grey and flared on the bottoms.
I have a black running skort from Athleta. It's very comfortable, but I wish it was a teeny bit longer (and I am short). And finally, somewhere in the bottom of a drawer I have 2 pairs of Nike gym shorts from my aerobics days. They are more like bike shorts, but shorter.
