    Skins review

I have meant to post this for a while but keep forgetting....I bought a set of the Skins brand bibs....Yes, I plunked down a ridiculous amount of money for these babies. I also bought the compression/recovery tights and the socks...but I bought these on ebay so it wasn't such a shock. I will have to tell you, I love them. The bibs are great. Lightweight, holds my muscle firmly. One BIT snugger and they would be sausagy around the legbands, but as it is they are fine. The chamois is comfy, I wore them on a 65 mile ride and they were great. Worth the money. And snazzy looking, somewhat different, don't see a lot of them in the wilds of Texas. I also like to wear them under my patrol shorts. A bit of the yellow SKINS logo peeks out from under my shorts, which drives my supervisors crazy...I always manage to bend the rules just a bit (a pink do rag under my helmet, my "Dopers Suck" socks under my uniform pants (you can only see them if I sit down and my pants ride up) or the pink barely there trim on my under armour sneakers (we are supposed to wear all black shoes).

The compression/recovery tights are nice. As I am always cold, I actually wore them under jeans and stuff. They breathe. Now that it is broiling outside, they are dormant.

The socks got tested on my last mounted detail. I can't bring myself to wear tall compression socks on the bike...everything in my body screams that it is wrong. But I wore them under my boots and half chaps at this concert (Bonnaroo, I work off duty security on the horse there, 12 HOUR shifts for four days straight in the saddle) because my legs, used to daily activity, find the relative inactivity of saddle life objectionable (yes, yes, I use my legs a lot when I ride work...doing flatwork or jumping, but on patrol we pretty much amble along) and my legs swell like Grandma's. So I gave the skins a try. I have pretty muscley calves but thin ankles and the XS were still too big. I don't think they were tight enough. They might have helped my legs from being elephantlike, but neither was I ready for a cocktail dress after wearing them.
If anyone is interested, that is what I thought. The bibs worth the money. The pants comfy but not sure they do what they are supposed to do, the socks too big for performance, if performance is to be had.

    Thanks for the review.

I've never had bibs and now you've got me thinking about them.
