What do you think of these shorts?
I wouldn't wear them...and I'm small person. I actually don't like wearing any solid light coloured bottoms for cycling.

The model definitely does wear them better than the photo with them off. If I was browsing a gear site on my own I'd most likely just skip over it without thinking anything at all. I tend to be drawn to things other people find distasteful, call me weird, but I have no idea why. Then again, I never wear spandex clothes while biking, it just never seemed needed since I bike to work, to the store, to the university, etc...
Yes I would wear that but that doesn't mean much coming from a woman who wore this to her prom

If I were the shape I was 30 years ago I would indeed wear that. Of course the matching jersey & saddle are needed to complete the picture. I will admit that that is not for the shrinking violets among us.

Yes, but it's not supposed to be. It's supposed to be a heart.
However you want to see it, wear it proudly![]()

Zen, I officially love you, and we were best friends in a previous life, I'm sure of it!
ShootingStar, I'd be more concerned about staining cycling clothes considering how much they cost in comparison to my clothes. It takes me enough time to find clothes that fit right with me being so petite, I can't imagine how long it would take to find cycling clothes that fit. I don't have the patience, money, nor does my town have any stores that cater to women riders. I find it much more rewarding and entertaining to ride successfully with clothes I already own, all the while showing others that you can commute around town in without spending big bucks on cycling gear. Many people I talk to have this idea that if you wana be a commuter you have to wear the spandex, and I believe that can be a barrier for people financially and mentally for many people.
I've been coveting these Zoot shorts, which aren't much different looks-wise:

Those Zoot shorts look better. If it were hot enough I guess I'd consider wearing white, otherwise grubby me and black are a match made in heaven.
I get these vaguely Jane Fonda'ish 80's high-cut leotard vibes from those Terry shorts. I had an aerobics instructor once who wore something like that, except the tights underneath were lace.![]()

I agree, and if other people need to wear streetwear for cycling, great.
It just doesn't work for me, I am petite and spend hrs. just to find non-cycling clothing to fit (and well-made at a competitive price) ..or in the past, I sewed them.
Besides commuter cycling isn't the only form of cycling for me anyway.

LOL, Zen.
That is one suggestive prom dress.
In the past few decades, I had very few light coloured bottoms (shorts or pants) in my non-cycling wardrobe too. In my younger years, few menstrual accidents with dark pants..did nothing but create paranoia for me about light coloured bottoms.
Plus visible dirt. So any light coloured cycling bottoms..forget it for moi.
Jewell, my life is car-free last 25 years, of which last 17 years is cycling. I ride for fitness, recreational (touring included) and for transportation/functional purposes...to store, etc. I usually wear clothing that is made for cycling. I still have stains on certain pieces of cycling clothing I can't remove and have given up. So won't be wearing streetwear on bike..
I just feel freer and more comfortable in cycling/athletic wear on bike. I like wearing clothing I don't have to think about damaging, etc. while on bike.
