    The "Breaking Away" ride...

    Raymond: What is this?
    Evelyn: It's sauteed zucchini.
    Raymond: It's I-tey food. I don't want no I-tey food.
Evelyn: It's not. I got it at the A&P. It's like... squash.
Raymond: I know I-tey food when I hear it! It's all them "eenie" foods... zucchini... and linguini... and fettuccine. I want some American food, d@mmit! I want French fries!

Yep, Silver and I joined the Bloomington Cycling Club on their annual Breaking Away Ride visiting scenes from the movie:

    Silver at the Stoller House:

Part of the group turning south along the route of Race Cinzano:

The famous serenade window at the Tri-Delt house:

The location of the "slap" scene (Silver wouldn't pose):

The Mill - "He looks like a safety inspector or a union organizer"

And last night, what are the odds that I'd get to park my 280SL (similar to the one in the movie) next to a nearly identical one???

    Ciao!

    I almost forgot!

We rode on the cinder track for the Little 500 as well.

That was tough! I was trying to sustain 20mph and could barely even attain it!

Those are great pics, Mr. Silver!

It's so funny you posted this. I had never seen this old movie. The dvd was a gift from someone and I finally got around to watching it about a week ago.

Oh, how my heart broke when the Italians trashed the poor boy on his dream ride. Gheez. I'm such a sap lol.

It looks like it was great time. Glad you and Silver got to do it.

Did you go to the quarry for a dip? One of my all time favorite movies!

OK, THIS is something I want to do before I die (I have a long list).
And, I want a car like that before I die too. You think Mouse the Mastiff will fit?
