What gloves do you wear? I bought some Bike Nashbar brand last year and just realized that the stitching is coming apart. I guess thats what I get for buying cheap gloves. I usually order online through Bike Nashbar, Performance Bike, REI, Price Point, I keep forgetting TE(). Are there any other sites to order from?

I just bought the TE staff recommended Giordana Strada gel gloves. I used to wear Trek gloves--but was going through them quickly (more than once a year). I also went up a size, since I was having trouble getting them off. Even though everyone recommends less padding, these are heavily padded--but I like them.

I have about 4-5 pair, because I ride nearly every day and have to wash them.. there's nothing worse than stinky gloves. I actually like the LG gloves. I also have a pair of Castelli's that I absolutely love. There's a ripped seam in almost every pair I own. I think it's just the nature of how we use them.

For me, gloves are one thing I've learned not to buy on line. While sizes for shorts and jerseys tend to be stable, I find gloves to be too variable to buy online (sorry, TE, but I am a dedicated shopper, alas, my pocketbook tells me).

I've had gloves that pinch at the base of the fingers (too short, yet fit find in width) or where the pressure pads sit--what may work well for some, actually causes me numbness.

That said, I just found the Giro Tessa glove. For me, it is perfect and perhaps for others. Light padding and a nice fit. I stopped by REI one week, tried them on and then tried them on the road. There were dozens on the rack. Went back a week later and they had 3 pair left, an XS and 2 XL.

I've never experienced stitch splitting in any set of cycling gloves. Just the material wearing down or becoming fustier/smellier..

I could never buy gloves online. Non-irritating fit is important. The tiniest abnormal padding lumps, glove finger constriction or even the tag inside, becomes a magnified irritant while cycling.

I don't have any specific manufacturer's line preference..but have used over 7 different lines since I've been cycling.

Hands are so individual. I don't even attempt to buy cycling gloves for my partner as a gift even if I know the lines he wears. There's a risk that the factory seamstress might be a tad off in their stitch lines/seams which can affect comfort.

I will say it is hard to buy gloves online - but the selection in many shops is awful. I bought one pair of full-fingered gloves from TE that were WAY too small - the fingers fit, but the thumb was crazy short. I got brave during a sale some months ago and bought both fingerless and full-fingered, and both are very comfortable. I went a little larger on the full-finger so I could get my thermal silk gloves on under them - they're perfect!

I haven't had the new ones long enough to tell you if they are durable or not. My last pair was 10 years old, a no-name brand from Walmart of all places. I wore them probably 3 years total in that time, they were washed many times and the seams were finally too worn out to keep wearing any more.
