    June 6 Rides

Started the day by watching the sunrise on the beach and then went for a 30 mile ride with DH down A1A on the Florida east coast. Definitely a nice way to start a vacation!

We signed up to do our club's rally; a 50 mile ride almost the same as the ride I did last weekend. Well, it's been rained out the past couple of years and obviously something had changed. The leader, someone I know well, just went out like bat out of Hell. This is a hilly ride and I like to gradually build up. Plus, AMC has always been more of a social group. Anyway, although I was still with the front group, I just didn't like the feel of this ride. In fact, I guess I don't like group rides that much anymore, unless I am the one in charge. So after 10 miles, we bailed and rode to Groton center, had lunch at a fabulous new place (proscutto, cheese, and basil panini), and rode back to our car. We had a nice 25 mile ride on a gorgeous day. The dinner and speaker (Nicole Freedman, the cycling "czar" for the city of Boston) is later on.
I am going to stretch out by the pond and read. I think I've learned that I don't care about going fast anymore.

Went on my second ever group ride of six gals. Perfect weather- cool and overcast. Almost 35 miles, 3066 feet of elevation gain. Went at a nice pace- I was a little worried I wouldn't keep up, but no one was out to prove any thing. I really like riding in a group!

Saw this bike today. It's pretty. I was about to cross the 59th St. Bridge when I saw it parked; later I saw (I assume) the same bike whizzing along the bridge. The rider did not seem to be singing "Slow down, you move too fast..." to himself.

Just a short 17mi today. Yuck... sick with upper respiratory infection, plus my asthma, bit hard going. But, it was a beautiful morning to ride. Not riding and being depressed about it would have been worse. Just enjoyed what I could. Did make my soul feel better that I at least got out at all. That always makes for a good ride day regardless of anything else.

Twenty flat miles on a nearby rail-trail but for some reason I was pooped afterwards. Maybe because I was in the big ring the whole time, pedaling hard and steady. No hills to coast down.

My girlfreinds and I up to Cache Valley for the Little Red Riding Hood on the 6th. It was Beautiful! The weather was great, a bit windy, but the amazing clouds and surroundings made up for any misery that the wind brought. The food was Amazing, I have never seen such a spread at ANY ride before, and I think the chocolate fountain really was the best after race idea ever! Kudos to all who organised and volunteered for the ride, it was Fabulous!
