    April 28 rides

Well since there isn't a thread and I'm very proud of today's ride, I'm starting one

40k on roads I'm not very familiar with, including a climb I thought might have been about 200m but according to the map was actually 320 I had to stop a couple of times, but managed to pick points where the road levelled out and I knew I'd be able to get clipped in again. Beautiful autumn weather, fabulous views and hardly any traffic, in fact most of the vehicles that passed me were tractors!

I hope the rest of you enjoy your rides today

That sounds gorgeous! I love those roads with tractors! Autumn is my favorite time of year. Funny to read about it when it's spring here!

finally cycled to work again after several weeks of bad Crohns. Felt great to be out in the sunshine, but that hill nearly killed me! Hopefully I'll get back into shape soon or I will never survive ALC! Lucked out on the weather at least today. Bright sunshine in the morning, rain while I was at work, then bright sunshine again for my ride home. Don't think I will be that luck for the rest of the week, but I will aim to cycle in anyway. A total of 9.2 hilly miles to be logged on bikejournal in a minute...

Yay UK! Good to hear you're feeling better. I did my commute today too, but it's not as long or as steep as yours. Oh, and before I forget: You need to edit your TE user info; you're not in Essex any more.
Half-marathon over. Sabbatical year over. It's back to "sacking shirt and oat cakes" as they say here.

I had an uneventful morning commute, but during the evening one, something funny happened. This guy on a Trek who has ridden up to me before, chatted and took turns pulling for several miles, went straight past me tonight. I didn't hear him coming, and couldn't catch his draft. He never got that far away, and I kept trying to catch up to him. Then, I looked behind me, and there was a guy coming up fast on a Cervelo time trial bike. This guy looked like a pro, and I didn't even try to catch his draft. But, I stayed within yards of the 2 of them long enough to see the guy on the Trek look back, know he was about to be passed by Mr. Cervelo, and turn to avoid it! The funny part was he pulled into a parking lot, made a loop, and just as he was coming back out (after the other guy was by), I was there with a big smile on my face. BUSTED!

The passer becomes the passed. So it was written.

PS I actually used my clip in pedals and did not fall! I was almost afraid to try it again! it did make the ride much easier as I used my whole leg this time. Although this morning I am a little sore for the first time in a while. This is week 11 of my new hobby!
