    carpal tunnel

I started having major carpal tunnel pains( diagnosed this month) after I stepped up the riding.
My doctor, who has it also, recommended finding a 'neutral' position to stop the tingling, as it was making me have numb hands while riding. ( I do it one hand resting at a time). Its pretty much holding your wrists straight.
BUT, I had read that lack of magnesium can cause carpal to worsen.
I take really good pharma grade supplements, but also have period bloating ( which is caused by lack of magnesium) so am somewhat deficient to begin with.
    Then I found this

I seem to remember her saying something about women leeching magnesium.:

So if you suffer this, or period bloating, it may be lack of magnesium!

Try Epsom Salt baths. http://www.epsomsaltcouncil.org/health_why_it_works.htm Your body absorbs the magnesium, and it's generally soothing, great for aches and pains.

I don't know what style of bike you ride, but my carpal tunnel symptoms got much better when I switched to a road bike. Being able to change hand positions frequently on drop bars really helped.

Carpal tunnel, plus arthritic thumbs, plus the fact that I make my living typing (hard to tell with my spelling here, sometimes, I know) were high among the reasons I switched to a recumbent. I simply could not ride 3 miles on the upright without my hands going to sleep.

Still, I'll see if adding some magnesium to the diet/supplements doesn't do some good. Thanks
