I've had hypothyroidism since 1997. I also had high cholesterol and triglycerides and B12 deficiency! Add high blood pressure, menopause and chronic vertigo and you have a picture of me up until about 1.5 years ago. Overweight, unhealthy and dizzy
. I took more pills every night and morning then I can count! Slowly over the past 1.5 years I have turned it around. I lost 30 pounds and started eating right... fresh foods, fruits/vegetables, controlling my fat intake and lots of exercise, on my bike and in the gym. In the past year I've gotten rid of all my meds except a very low dose of Synthroid (less than 1/2 the dose I used to take). No more cholesterol or triglyceride meds. No more vertigo. And only one tiny dose of a mild blood pressure med as compared to a beta blocker and two super-strong bp meds.
Thyroid, cholesterol and blood pressure are the triple threat. You usually find at least 2 out of 3 of these together. They are the price we pay for an unhealthy lifestyle. Medication can control it, but diet and exercise can just about cure them. Find a good endocrinologist and tell him that the goal is to not take meds for the rest of your life. It's great not to be a pill popper!
