Twittering at work - a huge distraction!

No, not that Twitter. The old fashioned kind with real birds.

We got new office furniture last week (and I wrote and deleted a long whiny post about my new office chair that is really hurting my legs!), and besides the fun of having an office that doesn't look like it was decorated from a yard sale in a bad neighborhood, my desk is now arranged differently so while I'm working I have a great view of the back lawn--trees, grass, pond. Very pretty. But the birds are so much fun to watch! There's a family of house finches that are nesting in a recessed light right outside my window, and a bunch of other kinds of birds regularly visit the trees just beyond that. I keep going onto the Cornell All About Birds website to check out which birds are hanging out for my entertainment.

This is way more distracting than the Internet.

Sounds like a nice problem to have. I would love to watch the birds and try to identify them. Pretty fun!

I work in a cinderblock office with no windows and 26 children pulling at my every moment for 6 solid hours a day. Most days I don't even see the outside until I leave work. Sometimes I really envy office workers (the ones with windows and walls and a desk that actually gets used for working- then some days I don't).

We have a big Canadian Snow Geese population on our campus. Though they can be a little assertive when it is hatching time, if there are nests outside my second story office, I find myself often wandering to the window to look out and watch the little babies as they hatch. Too cute. Not a bad distraction to have I guess.
