best commute of the year (so far)

I live on a hill. It's not a big hill, it's maybe 300 feet above sea level (where I work) at the highest point.
Every single commute I've ever had included scaling this hill, a 6-9% grade for long enough to get to 300 feet, right? (someone else can do the math if they want)
Every single commute I end up slogging up that hill whether i sit or stand, take it easy or work hard, and I've done this commute more than 200 times in the last two years alone.

TODAY I stood and rode from where the incline became noticeable, stayed standing until i got to the crest of the hill, and did not slog! I flew up that hill. it was awesome.
    I'll shut up now.

Whoa!! I hope someday to be able to say that about MY hill that I have to climb at the end of every ride to get home.
    Great job.

Good job! I have a standing hill to get home on my commute, too. Some days I wish for 1 more gear. Others I wish for 2 more. And some days more gears doesn't even cross my mind.

    Keep killin' it!

I will never be standing the whole way up my 850 foot driveway, 4-15% grade. I am just happy when I get to the top. The hill I have to climb to get to the driveway pretty much feels like nothing now.

It's nice to know that there's hope of improvement.

    Thanks everyone.

(I thought you would tell me about your best commutes too!!!!!)

My best commute so far: Opening the season (late March) I rode 30 miles in to my job, worked a good day, rode halfway home with my friend having left my truck at the halfway mark, felt good, and kept going, leaving the truck in my dust. For a total of 60 odd miles.

I haven't felt that good since... I think it was a fluke.

Oh, and on my hills on that commute I was like, zoooooooooooooom!
I can do five more miles.

    Well, since you asked

When I first got my new Lynskey in mid-March (my midlife crisis bike), I commuted on it to work a few times. My commute is about 15 miles each way, and pretty flat.

On the new bike I shaved nearly 8 minutes off my ride time, without even trying. So my best time was a hair over 52 minutes

and the following weekend I had my crash ... bah!
