Tour of Flanders for amateur cyclists...

Today it was the absolute D-day of the year for amateur cyclists. It was the Tour of Flanders (or de Ronde van Vlaanderen as we call it) for amateurs. You could choose between 75, 140 or the entire 250 km. 19.000 people participated.

Tomorrow it's the real thing. Who will win? I hope Tom Boonen, but I think Pozzato...

The 31st of May it's the Tour de Flandres for amateur women...

How much of the longest route is over cobblestone?

Am imagining the "joy" of going up a narrow route up a rise that's cobblestone with a pack of cyclists --particularily if it's raining.

It's about 35-40 kms of cobblestones... so it's not too bad.

Nope, next year i'll do the 140 kms like last year. These are pics made today by a cycling buddy.

It's only the 5th year that they organise a tour for regular cyclists. 1/10th of the participants came from the UK, Australia, the States, Japan, Russia...
