Wheels On The Bike(Bus) Go Round & Round

The wheels on the bike (bus) go round and round, round and round... do any of you have that children's story book song stuck in your head now??? HA! OK, when you are done cursing me through cyberspace, answer purity please if inclined so...

I read the old threads on here, but only saw one post related to a negative I heard from my lbs...

    These are some wheel options:

    Mavic Ksyrium Elite
One I thought I would go with, knew of, etc. But, my lbs guy said he had them himself, used to rec, and then some of his peeps had problems. Thus, he doesn't so much now. I read about a couple spoke issues on here. I'm not sure what the other issues might be?

    Shimano Ultegra
Heavier, but solid ws. Would match gruppo.

    DT Swiss R1900
This one the shop suggested as he liked best for the $/value etc. Said they have been around a long time. Are lighter, etc. Good solid set.

Seeings how I live in a cave, I had not really read up on DTs. Lots of good stuff here.

But, then OMG... I clicked on the DT R1850 in white... Holy Bike Porn Batman! *sigh* mo $ though...

I have the Mavic Ksyrium Elite and I love them, but I haven't experienced many different quality wheels.

I heard there was a recall of some part of the 2007 or 2008 model, can't remember for sure. Maybe that's what caused the problems they were referring to?

Thx, maybe that is what the shop is talking about. One of my friends said he has the Ultegras. They match his ice grey gruppo all the way around. His riding partner had the Mavics. The thing he said about them is that the blades made more of a buzzing sounds. I have heard that Chris King hubs do the same thing--buzz like a bee. Preference I guess. Though, none of these WSs have CK. I think some peeps like it. Appreciate the input. Good to know you are happy with your set.

    Question Bladed Spokes

Just an add to my thread here...

I've read that bladed spokes can be a con in some ways...

    1) noise produced

    2) crosswinds

    Any comments, please add.

I think the Ultegras are the only ones without bladed spokes (of the 3 WSs I listed)? They look round from what I can tell...
