    Polar s720

    Hi,

I am planning to purchase a Polar S720. 2 questions.

    1) I thought that it was fully wireless (speed, cadence and hearbeat). However, someone told me today that it is not the case. Anybody knows???

    2) I am planning to install it myself. Is it complicated?

    Thanks

I use a Polar 710 which I think is the generation before the 720. It's totally wireless for speed, cadence and heart rate. You'll need to install sensors on your down tube or seat tube for the cadence and on your fork for for speed. A magnet will go on your wheel and one on your pedal. We use zip ties to install the sensors and the magnet on the pedal. Electrical tape under the sensors will help keep them from damaging your paint and slipping around.

I was just browsing the s720i info I have and it appears to be totally wireless. I only use the speed sensor but the info is for all wireless.

On the set-up, I happened to be on vacation with a group of people, one of whom is an exercise physiologist so set-up was very easy. I handed him the box and said, "can I get you a beer?"

I will report that I installed the software on the PC and set up the IR link. All of that was super easy.

the only time it becomes wired is if you buy the optional power meter!

Just a note on the set-up: it is extremely critical to get the angle of the sensor steep enough to the sensor. It was easy on a suspension fork, but a road fork doesn't have as much space between the fork and the spokes. So experiment in getting the sensor pointed towards the wheel at the angle mentioned in the directions.

BTW, Veronica, I think I have the beep turned off.

would that be the opposite of the She-Ra Princess of Power Tiara??
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"
