Should I sign up for this?

Well, now that I have regained my focus and have a sprint tri at the end of June I was thinking about signing up for a Duathlon. It would consist of a 5k run, 30k bike, and finish with another 5k run. It is a co-ed race and only allows for 500 participants. I am a fairly slow runner...about 10 min per mile and average rider, my average speed riding alone is usually 15-16 mph. Any thoughts? Oh, the race is May 9th.

Yes! Two months is plenty to train if you're starting off in decent shape. I'm a fellow 10 minute miler. Grrr.

Go for it!!!! It is good to get the first race on the schedule. It will give you something concrete to focus on.

Yay- good for you! Don't be frustrated on the first run, tho. I'm a 10 min. miler, too, and I'm almost always at the back of the pack on the first run of every du I've ever done. I usually catch and pass many people on the bike and I'm not at the back on the second run. It seems that people tend to go out way too fast on that first run, so take it easy and you'll pass people like crazy during the rest of the race. Passing is so much fun!

Thanks for the input. I am sooooo psyched!!! Although what I am afraid of is that I may train too hard in the begining and get on overuse injury. It has happened before. Heck, I just worked out this morning and I feel great and feel like doing more. I need to keep myself in check.
