I was reading a neat article in mental_floss magazine at Borders the other day about the bicycle and how it emancipated women in the 19th Century. It's a neat magazine anyway, so it might be worth checking out.

i know this will sound a little funny. what kind of magazine is mental floss? i have never heard of it. i am looking for a good fitness and sports magazine since my beloved Sports Illustrated for Women is discontinued. this one doesn't sound like a sports magazine. hmmmmm tell me more.

I think that was the only fitness article in the magazine. The best way I can describe it is that it's "Smithsonian" for normal people. It teaches you stuff but isn't highbrow like so many. Not a whole lot of current events, but a little bit of everything.
The article was more on the history of cycling as it relates to women, which is what made it interesting to me. It described how our clothes changed because we began riding bicycles, and I had never thought about that really.
I wish there were more decent magazines out there, too.
