Hi,
Just had to share because I am so happy with this new saddle I just put on my road bike. It's a men's Selle Italia ProLink gel saddle. I had been riding my husband's old ProLink gel LOL and had stolen his Flite gel a while back, but now, I have my very own
After 8 years of road riding, I discovered last year that I was much more comfortable on a guys' saddle. Even though I have some hips on my size 4 body, my ischial tuberosities or sit bones are placed very closely, so I kept feeling very sore on some of the 'women's specific saddles'. I tried everything from chamois butter to my mountain bike saddle to about 4-5 different saddles...until, eureka! We finally realized what I needed...
It makes such a big difference for me, along with a better-fitting road bike...Last year, I bought a 46 cm road bike with 650c wheels so no more pain! I fit so much better...I have a short torso and long legs and was always alternating between wrist and upper body pain and crotch pain...I could not ride more than 30 minutes without extreme discomfort...I toughened it out for many years, but finally, my body said enough and I was forced to figure things out...
I am happy to report that 2 hour rides are becoming more common place in my training and riding...It's hard to race when you can't train LOL, so I see light at the end of the tunnel again...yay!
Just wanted to share because if any of this can help one person, I will feel like my suffering was not in vainAnd, to give hope to others that if you stick with trying to find a solution, you will eventually get there...It is possible
Bear hugs to all,
Lisa
