Has anyone done this tour? It goes around the finger lakes of NY.

I have a friend who did it 2 years ago. There are a lot of hills/climbing. The scenery is beautiful but you have to be one who likes camping and minimal support.

Like Amanda, I've gotten their brochure the last couple years. It looks like such a pretty ride. Seems like something I'd like to do one day when I have more time for touring. I hope someone has some insight to help you make your decision.

Here are some people's accounts of their experiences:

I did it in 2005. I actually incorporated it into the middle of a 3-week unsupported tour. I grew up in upstate NY so it was a cool homecoming for me.

The ride is challenging, but not un-doable. The group was very fun and for a budget group ride I'd give it high ratings. Interesting campsites, a boat tour, winery stops -- pretty fun!

I have to say I would be making DH do the shorter options some days so I could stop for some winery tours.
