Ways to celebrate New Year's Eve/Day

So how are you celebrating/observing the coming of 2009? And on Jan. 1st?

Unlike last year where we were at a ski resort (snowshoeing) and having a meal, we're at home. He is preparing our New Year's Eve meal..he insists on prepping it. I'm just recovering from cold, tryin' to remember to breathe properly and not collapse into uncontrolled cough jags.

Our meal tonight will be: bison marinated in abit of soy sauce, maple syrup, fresh herbs with onion, garlic and ginger. Little purple potatoes on side. There maybe a wee lump of goat cheese on side. With stirfried cauliflower with mushrooms, onions and garlic. Dessert will be pear tartes from a French bakery.

I will be drinking lots of tea.

We will watch last finale comedy episode of Royal Canadian Air Farce.

And tomorrow I haven't a clue what I'm doing since am just living each day.

Every year since my kids were born, I've made them each a Christmas ornament with the idea that they will eventually take them when they have their own homes and put up a tree. So far they've been coming here for Christmas, so the ornaments go up on our tree.

Somehow, I got way behind - six years behind. Hmmm...six years coincides with when I began cycling in earnest. Somehow all my interest funneled into riding and I sort of lost interest in crafts for awhile. Tonight I'm starting to play catch up and will stick with it in the evenings over the next few weeks until I'm done.

We may watch a movie or two. I can't stand the New Years Rockin' Eve stuff on TV.

If I'm not coughing too much tomorrow, I may go for walk on the Coyote Creek Trail.

Wishing you all many happy and safe miles in 2009.

Lee & I are hanging out at home tonight. We'll watch tv, play Scrabble, make tea, and will probably turn in waaay before midnight. We are the most boring people on earth.

Tomorrow, I'll go out for a ride.

Nothing different for tonight, but I will go spinning in the morning, plus my husband always makes black-eyed peas flavored with smoked ham hocks on New Year's Day, his family tradition. Happy New Year everyone!

We went into the city to watch a movie (The Day the Earth stood still - in IMAX format. B minus, I think.) Anyway, I was glad to be getting the heck out of dodge by the time we left. There were SFPD EVERYWHERE. Crazy - like they were bracing for Armageddon. I have never seen so many police - cop cars lining the streets.

Glad to be safely home. Happy new year everyone!

Klaatu barada ixnay on remakes. We watched the original Solaris on DVD from NetFlix, cracked a bottle of nice California blanc de blancs and stepped out onto the porch to watch a few bottle rockets at midnight. It's been a while since we spent New Year's Eve at home "just the two of us and the Internet," but after parties on the 24th, 26th and 27th, we're partied out.
