Help! Chain dirt on car seat!

Has anyone had any luck getting chain dirt/ grease off a car seat?

I got grease on my car upholstery years ago. Can't remember what got it off, but it is possible. Have you gone on-line to look up stain removal? You should find a guide that lists methods/products that work. Another suggestion is to call your local car mechanic. He/she will hopefully know how to remove the grease stains. I was worried when it happened to me that my car seat was ruined. The grease came out and everything was ok!

straight Simple Green or Dawn ( and a scrub brush)
    Citus-solve might do it, too.

And dishwashing liquid will do - they are designed to cut grease and they do work. Dawn, like Irulun says, is very effective.

I'd be afraid of Citru-Solv soaking through the upholstery and dissolving the foam

If it was me I'd stick to something water-based as they've suggested. I haven't even bothered to mess with the black spot on my car seat... probably grease from one of the vehicles, but who even knows. Let me know what works.

This happened to me several times last year. Trying to fit two bikes into a Camry gets interesting. Especially when your husband is 6'4". His bike seat is at my elbow height.

To get the chain grease off the car seat I mixed together some Dawn & Lysol all-purpose cleaner in a tub of water then took a scrub brush to it. So far it's come out every time and hasn't damaged the upholstery. Be sure to lift off whatever comes out with a dry rag. Otherwise you're just dispersing the gunk over a larger area.

    HTH!
