Book for Beginner Cyclist and Bike Camp

    Hi Everyone,

I have only been riding since Jan 05 and when I walk into the bike shop and they start talking about my bike I don't understand much of what is said....should I buy "The idiot's guide to Cycling"...or would you recommend a different biking 101 book?

I just ordered the nutrition book by Nancy Clark that was discussed in the General Forum.

Also, have you been to a bike camp? Which ones did you like the best? I am hoping to find a bike camp on the East Coast since I am moving to NC in June.

    Many Thanks,
    Jam

    Jam,

There are some books out there I haven't found any that beat this forum, I've learned so much from the gals here. I've mentioned to TE admin that (with permission to quote the women here of course) they should put together a book of "the wit and wisdom of TE", with Spazzdog as editor of course.

I think the next great book about women cycling is right here.

As for the LBS one of the things I look for in a shop is they don't talk down to me, and they don't talk over my head either. You're not an idiot, if your shop makes you feel like one is there another shop?

    Thank you for the comments!

I am mainly interested in road bike camps...

but I saw those pictures of the mountain bike camps with the students going across logs....and my heart leapt.....perhaps next year I will buy a mountain bike too.
