    facebook scam?

Hi folks - not to be too paranoid or anything, but I was just asked to add "kelownagurl tris" as a friend on facebook, but I already have Kelownagirl on my freind list, under her real name. The new page has a photo that resembles her and her birthday, but nothing else. I've sent KG a message and asked if she's started a new page for some reason, but in the meantime you might want to be cautious if you get the same request. It looks like it's pretty easy to copy someones photo and make a fake page, if your profile is open to public view.

And KG, if you have made a new profile, sorry for all the fuss

Hi again - the paranoia alert is called off, she's written me back and is the real thing :-)

I was just a bit jumpy because my work email has been infested by spam recently, and yesterday a total stranger tried to add me on facebook.

Hey no problem - thank you for checking!

I have a bunch of friends on twitter who keep wanting to add me as friends so I decided to create an internet persona on facebook where I could freely add and connect with people without worrying about using my real name. I debated on whether to move all of my current internet buddies over there as well, and decided I may as well. Obviously, I'm not too worried about you guys knowing my name, since I've known you all for a long time. I just figured I may as well keep my internet life and my real life private. Apart from the concern about not giving out my real name to every Tom, ****, and Harry, (and a lot of my twitter buddies are men), I also don't want SOME of the people in my real life to see my blog and/or twitter account. There is sometimes cross-over between my work life and facebook and it's probably best if I'm always Kelownagirl on the internet so it's less likely parents of my students don'y stumble across me.

    Hope that makes sense!

And thank you so much for checking on it. I hadn't thought about how it could look.
