    Hilly Hundred - Day 1

Well, a windy day! A little chilly...the sun never came out fully. We've been looking for Mary9761, but didn't find her yet. Mary, we're looking forward to your pictures...cause we didn't take any!

We were surprised to meet Mr. HoosierGiant...a man comes up to me and says "Are you Mr. Silver?" I'm thinking - "oh crud! What man knows me as 'Mr. Silver'". Enjoyed talking with him and hope to meet HoosierGiant too!

So, the ride: Started warmer than expected @ 50 degrees. The wind was about 10mph for half the ride! I don't like wind! We averaged 15.9 mph with >4,000 feet of climbing. Last year, we averaged 16mph, but there was no wind last year (and we had TrekJeni and friends to "pull")

Silver and I tried to do the course a second time, but I bonked 10 miles in and we turned around.

So, the day was 68 miles.

Tomorrow is the hillier day of the Hilly...yippee! Temp should start in the 30's but rise to the 60's.

Glad you survived Day One, Mr. S. Have fun tomorrow. Good luck with Tabor.

    Here you go Susan:

    Day 1:

    Day 2

Today, we ran into several people we've ridden with before. Compared to yesterday, weather started out colder, but got warmer. I got the thrill of leading "the train" through the Morgan/Monroe Forest at breakneck speedschoo choo

Our camera didn't work, so I'm hoping Mary9761 will have one of her outstanding photologues. We looked for her, but never found her.

Here's a link to what the organizer reports the elevation to be.

    OMG too funny!

    Day 1:
    Posted route: 3321 ft
Garmin via Motion based: 4509 ft

    Day 2:
    Posted route: 3157 ft
Garmin via Motion based: 5062 ft

I never believe anyone's climbing measurement if it's off Motionbased. The amount the climb is inflated is ridiculous.

Wow! What's even more hilarious is that I get very different measurements between last year's ride and this year's ride...but the elevation profiles and routes are identical.

    Hmmm...this sounds like a question for Garmin/Motionbased...

    Cool you're not alone

I did a century once with a friend who then ran her Edge 305 data thru motionbased.

The route was advertised as about 6500 ft, my Ciclosport registered about 6300 ft and her Edge/Motionbased registered about ... 10,000 ft !

Granted, on that day, it certainly felt like 10,000 ft.
