I know two teenagers that ride unicycles wherever they go as their transportation. They go pretty fast, even uphill. I know a minor league baseball player who rides his longboard (it's a long skateboard with bigger wheels) to the ballpark every day. Some people use longboards with a long stick to push off. It's all good!

That's funny, my DH saw a guy commuting on a unicycle the other day, too! This guy's unicycle had a 700cc wheel with handlebars that looked like aerobars.
We saw a similiar set up (maybe the same guy?) on the Harvest Century that passed our house last weekend. It looks fairly comfy and he was definitely moving at a good clip.
