    motor home with bike box

A year or 2 ago, I read an article in Bicycling Magazine about a company in Ohio or Indiana (I think) that customized small motor homes on Ford, Dodge, GM chassis with bike boxes built in the rear end which would hold as many as 6 bikes, keeping ones' bikes inside all safe and clean!

Does anyone know the name of the company and how to contact them? I know they had a website, but I can't find it even tho I have googled and googled. They had some neat designs.

Try searching on "toy hauler." There are lots of companies that will customize the garage area any way you want - car, motorcycles, or bicis.

Thanks, I tried the toy hauler, but did not come up with quite what I was looking for. I want a small motor home type vehicle with the storage box built in sort of like a little extra room.
Maybe I should try emailing Bicycling Magazine on that old article.
    Thanks again for trying.

I went up to the DC 3-Day with a motorcycle crew member -- he had a 45-foot Cyclone RV that had a "garage" built into the back. It was accessible from inside the RV, and outside side door. But, the whole back wall swung down so he could ride his motorcycle right inside. It had hold-down straps for the bike. My mountain bike felt so macho strapped inside right next to the big bike!

The Cyclone is what he was calling a fifth-wheel? It was towed behind his truck.
For 3 days, I get to part of a thousand other journeys.

Was it Sportsmobile? They make whatever you want and will use a Chevy van, a Sprinter Van, a Mercedes van...

I'd LOVE to have a Sportsmobile.

    That's it!!

That's it, that's it!! Oh, thank you so much. That is exactly the one I saw in Bicycling Magazine--I covet one for an extended bike trip around the country (if I can talk my DH into it, and maybe even if I can't!). Isn't it amazing that RV dealers don't get it when you tell them that you don't want your bikes to travel outside!! And you want to get more than 2 miles to the gallon!

Again-thanks, I am so glad my little clues took root!
