    Happy first day of Fall!

Happy first day of fall everyone! It means for me my constant work season is almost over!
What I can't believe is here in California (central coast that is ) our tree's are already starting to change! We have a ginko that is turning yellow and our liquid amber is turning red! And yesterday the wind had a bit of a chill in it. I love fall! Our farmer's market is teaming with Pepper's and heirloom tomatoes. Squash's of all kinds are available. Yesterday I made pumpkin soup.
But I also honored the last day of summer with a bbq and a margarita!
WHat is your favorite part of fall?

We don't really have a fall out here. But it does mean cooler temperatures, although 80's are still common. It also means shorter days which I hate. Most of our trees are evergreen or just turn brown and drop leaves, no fiery colors. But fall is still my favorite season, I think it is because I loved school and it was always back to school time?

Fall to me means weekend climbing trips to NY (the leaves are still green, though we're seeing hints of color) and trips to my favorite farmstand. It's apple season! I just bought my first bag of Honey Crisps, which are the BEST APPLES evar!

I'm also beginning to see a few leaves changing here, but it'll be weeks before things reach their peak. I made chili yesterday, so soup season has officially started! Also planning on going apple picking some time this week. To me, fall is about sunny, comfortable days, and cool nights. I can still enjoy being outdoors and not have to drip with sweat or put a million layers on. Then at night, I can curl up on the couch with a blanket and some hot chocolate

    Fall is my favorite season.

I love the angle of the sun right now. The crisp chilly air in the mornings (though I'm sure we will have several more hot spells before fall really sets in). The leaves on some of the trees are beginning to change. I go the long way to work just to watch one tree in the median of Highway 9 slowly turn to bright red. There aren't a lot of trees that turn spectacular color in Northern CA, but Chinese Pistache, Gingko, and Liquidambar do put on a show.

Soup! I have veggie soup in the Crock Pot this minute.

It won't be long before I bring my wool and cashmere sweaters out of storage.

Cycling in the fall is so much more comfortable than summer.

Five One- Chinese Pistache grow very well in Texas, I am trying to convince DH that is what we should plant so we can have some color. He doesn't want something decidous.

I loooove honey crisps! We just got some at our farmer's market last week! So yummy! We also have an apple tree inn our backyard. They are the best apple pie apple's. But we don't have very many this year cause we did a major trim last year. Maybe enough to make one pie and some apple butter.

My neighbors' apple tree is right on the fence, and they graciously allow us to gather whatever grows or falls on our side. But they pruned heavily last year- no apples for us this year either

I'm going to have to find one of those "u-pick" orchards....
