Has anyone ridden a 6 hr endurance race? If so, how did you train for it? What do you bring on race day? I'm thinking of doing a night endurance race and am interested in hearing any tips or recommendations. Thanks in advance.

Ian & I normally do the Perth MTB 6hr as a duo. In terms of training, what to take on race day etc..I think there's a thread somewhere on the MTB section asking this. I know I posted some info somewhere....I think..

When I get home tonight i'll post some info. I still have my training plan, nutrition plan & equipment list at home.
The lovely LBTC might have some info.

Thanks for the link, CC.I'm interested to hear about your training for this.
I was training for 6 hour race, but then one of my friends had to cancel, so we decided to just do it next year.
The training I was doing was lots of maybe 75% road riding (with one long ride on the weekend) to get my endurance up and the saddle time in. Then I would do a couple of mountain bike rides to keep up the handling and the technical skills and keep my body adjusted to the bike.
Sounds like fun! Be sure to report back.

I've done a couple 6 hours now and did a 12 hour last Saturday followed up by a Cross race on Sunday.
For endurance, I think saddle time is important. I use my road bike for some long distance riding and mix in the summer mtb time trial series for some all out butt busting.
My 6 hour races have always been with a teammate but we decided after doing the 12 hour that we're going to do the 6 hour solo next year so instead of being teammates, we'll be fierce competitors.
If you've got some decent saddle time, you should be okay.
I'm not a solid food eater when it comes to racing. My stomach shuts down pretty quickly but I suggest doing what works for you.
Most importantly, have fun!
