    Metric Century today

This is my only fundraiser of the year. Proceeds go towards our local hospital for palliative care and has been spearheaded by the owner of the LBS that I patronize.

Weatherpeople said it would be "cloudy and rain later in the day." NOT! 30 km in and it starts to pour. It did not let up for 7 hours.

Beautiful rolling course. Managed to stay with a group of men (not the hammerfest type, but some men - probably in their 40's) for the ride. Despite the perpetual rain, wind, one nasty gravel road and the added weight of the rain to my clothing, managed a 3:45 finish. (27kph/16.7mph). I was able to take a shower post century (festivities were at the club where I work out). Looked in the miror and my lips were purple. Just a tad chilly! The guys were impressed that I was "able" to keep up with them - one of them asked me to be on his team next year.

I've tried to take a nap..pointless, I'm still too wound. Next year, I'd like to make that ride 3:30. (ooo, already making goals for 2009)

Congrats on the ride, spindizzy... It would have gone through mental olympics to keep going in that type of weather...

    Shootingstar:

Ride left NW Mississauga, to Halton Hills area and the Niagara Escarpment, west to the Flamborough area, back through Wellington, Stewarttown, south of Terra Cotta and then back to the big burb.

It is quite nice that we can get of the city quickly, though I did see many signs for more development..that part makes me sad.
