Amtrak Century tomorrow!!! My 1st NON-Tandem century! :D

Hey guys. So, tomorrow is my big day. I'm finally doing my first century on my own bike. Turns out, it's the same century I did a year ago on the tandem with Dh. This is nice, since I am familiar with the course.

The bummer is, I've been feeling sick the past couple of days. A head cold. Dh keeps telling me not to worry about it. He sat down to have a "trainer pep talk" with me this morning when I got teary eyed "again" about not knowing if I'll be able to do it. He told me I've been working hard, I've been doing my rides, my legs and body are ready and, once I'm on the bike, I won't be nearly as affected by a head cold as I think I will." He speaks from experience, as well as from a friend's recent experience. "So," he continued, "you don't have to get all teary eyed and cry about it." And I replied in my teary eyed crying voice, "But, I'm supposed to cry cause I'm PMS-ing! And I'm probably starting my period tomorrow!"

He even happened to talk to our club president today who, when he heard I was sick, said, "Oh, it won't affect her ride tomorrow."

So, I hope they're right. I'm feeling more mentally prepared right now than I have in a few days and a "little" physically better than this morning. I'll let you guys know how it goes!!!

Some of my best rides have been when I have a cold and am taking (performance enhancing) Sudafed! Everyone here (Santa Barbara/Ventura) has a cold too. Bring along your favorite remedies and see how it goes! I bet you'll have a really good time! More fun than sitting at home thinking that you should be doing chores but you don't want to because you have a cold! Good luck! And remember, it's only 4 twenty five mile rides! You can do it! You'll do fine!

Good luck! I wish I could ride it as well (but BF wanted to make this a strict guys only ride...men, go figure!). I don't mind him scoping out all the centuries before I do them next year!
