I used to shop with Homegrocer.com when they were still in business. I loved it! They would throw in freebies and samples with pretty much every order. I always got my complete order and it was delivered within the time frame I wanted.
I've always wondered why they went out of business...
ETA: Apparently they merged with another company and the service level went way down. I don't remember why I stopped shopping with them, though.

The three word answer: Dot Com Bust
They got swept up in the plummeting tech/dotcom sector stock drops in the early 00's and they couldn't keep up the operational costs. So, they sold the name/business. That was unfortunate, since for the most part they had their act together. (My personal favorite home delivery dot com convenience service went out at the same time, and I was similarly sad.)
I miss Webvan.

i haven't done it but i've been curious as to how well they pick my vegetables and stuff lol
We have a milkman. I am overjoyed because of the fact we have a milkman. He brings milk (uh, duh?), chocolate milk, and various and assorted other juices/yogurt/dairy products. It is good.

The fresh stuff has all been as good as what I would pick in the store. They have to pick good stuff, because you can refuse bad ones. When they deliver the groceries, I look at the fresh fruits and veggies and meat and dairy, etc, to make sure the expiration dates are not past, and that I want to keep the fresh stuff. So far, the only things I have sent back with the delivery driver, is some yogurt that was past exp date, and some bread they substituted with something I didn't like, and a substituted flavor of Oatmeal Bars that had dried fruit in it (I'm allergic to the preservatives in most dried fruits). When I return something, the driver makes note on a special sheet, and within two days, that $$ is credited to my credit card. I think that makes 4 items over the past 14 months. Not bad.
