What States have you been to?

I was talking to my sister in law this weekend about how she has never left Texas and silently pondering how sad that is. I don't want to pity her but I love to travel and she has only been as far as 5 hours from home. That got me thinking have most people been to a lot of states (my assumption)? I don't feel like I have been to a lot compare to some of my friends (one has been to about 40). What I haven't done is been cycling in most of them, only three of the states. Looking at my list I sure don't go north, true southerner!

    I have been to:
    1. Texas (duh)
    2. Louisiana
    3. Mississippi
    4. Alabama
    5. Georgia
    6. Florida
    7. Tennessee
    8. Arkansas
    9. Oklahoma
    10. Nebraska
    11. Kansas
    12. New Mexico
    13. Colorado
    14. California
    15. Nevada
    16. Ohio
    17. Missouri

I'm not sure I can remember, but lets see...

I'll start with the ones I've lived in:
    Minnesota
    Massachusetts
    Michigan
    Wisconsin
    Maine
    Pennsylvania
    Florida
    North Carolina
    Oregon

Wait a minute, it would be MUCH easier if I list the ones I've NOT been to:
    New Mexico
    Oklahoma
    Nebraska
    Arkansas
    Tennessee
    Kentucky
    West Virginia
    North Dakota
    South Dakota
    Arizona
    Alaska
Washington (soon to remedy this since it's only across the river now!)
    Montana

    So, 13 that I haven't visited...so I've been to 37, soon to be 38!

Edited to correct - I'd forgotten Montana!

Well when I was 3 or 4 - just before kindergarten my parents and I traveled all around for a year. I'm betting we hit almost all of the contiguous US and I'm sure my life has been influenced by the trip, though I have to admit I remember little about it....

In my memory I've been to
    Pennsylvania
    New York
    New Mexico
    Nevada
    Massachusetts
    Maine
    New Hampshire
    Connecticut
    West Virginia
    Virginia
    Washington DC
    Ohio
    North Carolina
    South Carolina
    Georgia
    Florida
    Louisiana
    Minnesota
    Michigan
    Wisconsin
    North Dakota
    Oregon
    Idaho
    Tennessee
    Kansas
    Colorado
    Montana
    Washington
    New Jersey
    Texas
    Vermont
US Virgin Islands (St. Thomas + St. John)

    out of the country
    Great Britain
    Spain
    Italy
    France
    Switzerland
    Japan
    Monaco
    Canada

my brain has a hard time wrapping around the idea of NEVER having travelled outside of one's home town... though I know there are many people who never have.

    Alaska

i've never been to alaska, north dakota, south dakota,
    mississippi, arkansas or alabama.

    I've hit all the rest.

I can't imagine a person only ever having been in one state, but i read a person on a forum saying she'd never seen apples on a tree. she was from Texas. blew my mind.

    Connecticut (1 full day)
Montana (3 hrs...we walked into Montana from Alberta.. from Waterton National Park into Glacier National Park)
New Mexico (if I forgot to mention. For 5 days)

    Canada:
Nunavut-- covers most of Baffin Island in the Arctic (3 days)

I have never left the country, not even to cross our South Texas border. Only lived in Texas, in fact other than 6 years of college (well DH took that long) I have only lived in a 30 mile radius of where I was born.

I will say my sister in law grew up much less well off than I. By no means was I wealthy but compared to her growing up I might as well have had an address on easy street. She is finally leaving the state this month.

Next year we will be adding Alaska to the list if all goes as planned. A close friend from college is living there for now due to his job transferring him, free room means we can actually afford to go! Plus he flies so much for work he thinks he can hook us up with some discount tickets. Alaska is probably the number one state I wanted to see. We are also hoping to go to Georgia but I have been there, it is a new one for DH.

I forgot I have been to Missouri! Went to St. Louis when I was a freshman in college. I didn't realize I have been to so many states, close to half now.

I really need to get west of the Mississippi. I plan on heading to Texas this fall, that'll be my first visit there.

    US
    Arizona
    California
    Connecticut (obviously)
    Delaware
    Florida
    Maine
    Maryland
    Massachusetts
    Nevada
    New Hampshire
    New Jersey
    New York
    Pennsylvania
    Rhode Island
    Vermont
    Virginia
    Washington
    Washington, DC

    Canada
    Labrador (Happy Valley/Goose Bay)
    New Brunswick
    Newfoundland
    Nova Scotia
Quebec (All the way to Hudson Bay!)

    Elsewhere
    Bermuda
    England
    Italy

I plan on seeing as much of this earth as possible. Ninety percent of that travel has been in the 5 years since I graduated college. Dad didn't like to fly, so growing up, family vacations were limited to wherever he was willing to drive (and he doesn't like driving). Joining a driving club is the coolest thing I've ever done, I've seen some amazing places thanks to them, and have made lifelong friends
