Hi ladies,
thank you for the support after my bike accident.
Well, it took over 3 weeks to get all the right parts in, but we finally fixed the Bianchi, so now it is as good as new!
So we are back on the road - a lot more wary of people that run stop signs and red lights, and of trucks in general...
Just wanted to share some good news this time

Yep - well, her insurance did. It was a pretty costly repair too.

Doing good - the abrasions have healed and the legs look much better although there's still some residual bruising here and there. I'm going a little slower than normal but getting back on track
And I have to confess that I'm still a little freaked out when big trucks and SUV's approach the intersections too fast...

Finally I got it all together AND took a few minutes to take some pictures. I guess I need to share some happiness with everyone, after the crash and all the confusion, so here we go!

Hey I missed the original thread but am glad to hear you are doing so well and the bike is back, you're on the road.

I guess there is some truth to getting back on the horse......that said I totally feel for you and I bet it will be a long time before you don't wence every time you hear that familar noise.....seems the cure for such phobias is to power through them, the strong survive!

Glad you and your bike are on the mend! I was rear-ended in a car a few years back by a semi, and I still do not like big trucks coming near me. Best wishes as you get “back in the saddle” again!

I'm with you on being a bit nervous being around unpredictable trucks. I try to emulate bravado to them after a few hair-raising incidents but the sphincters are clenched; both mine and the Trek's.

You are right - and I guess with age we get more 'respectfully wary' anyway. Sometimes I think of my riding style when I was like 15 or 18 years old - and it was waaaaay faster but sometimes not so responsible. I've been on road bikes for like thirty years and had a few crashes when I was around twenty (all by myself of course ) here and there when I was young... falling on the road, flying down a small country bridge once in Italy, or such - but when you are younger you don't think about it too much. I remember that my sister was the same way, she flew into a ditch at 35mph once! You go down, get back up, check for broken bones and if everything is ok heal the road rash and jump back on the bike.
Now at 37 I guess I have a different perspective. I like to ride fast but I don't ride as fast everywhere like I used to. And it shows I guess, because I don't crash by myself anymore
I am more careful of steep descents, corners, uneven ground... I could say I ride more conservatively in general. Well, yes - not enough to avoind the big trucks evidently... but still one thing I noticed in the last few years is that I am much more wary of my surroundings, especially in traffic.
On the other hand, still, this weird experience leaves me a little uncomfortable on the road. I did get back on the bikes (the horses ) right away despite the bruises, just wanted to keep going anyway - but I realize that I am being more 'suspicious' of any unconventional behavior around me now. I notice immediately all the drivers that are just a little more aggressive or more erratic, I am pretty wary of trucks and larger vehicles, and although the ride per se has a 'relaxing' effect on my day - I keep a higher alert level than I used to.
I guess that means that I'm not so young anymore?
