    Red face MTB "Fred" ?

Well, you kind souls here on TE always seem to answer my simpleton questions I would hesitate to ask elsewhere, so here we go...

Is there such a thing as the mtb version of "Fred"?

The love of riding my bike from a kid first returned in the form of pedaling in spin class. There is a lot of "whooping" and "woot hooting" going on in there if you have ever been. Well, then I found my road bike. Not really much time to "woot" with cars about to run you over... road rage drivers seem inclined to fist fight if they take the "woot" misinterpreted towards them.

But, what about on the trail? Is a "whoop" ok? Or is it being a total "Fred"?

I'm doing a repeat visit to a trail labeled advance with a rather skilled pal this week. Last week I had to dismount many obstacles, but was quite thrilled when I got the gutts to make it over a nice set of camel backs... then a "woot" just flew out of mouth with joy.

However, as my friend was trying to call back with instructions on what to expect next on the trail, some other guys were yelling back "ok, thanks honey, for the tip"...

I was the only woman out there. I know the other guys were just goofing off. Later I thought, well, maybe you're not suppose to be a joyful dork like me and "whoop"?

Just a trivial fleeting thought for the TE goddesses of mud... Thanks!

I woot all the time! Sometimes even when I fall over.

Heck, we have a trail names "Whoops." So I show it lots of respect by repeating its name over and over.

    Heck Ya!

I "hoot" and "holler" all the time. Go have some fun, girlfriend!

We have a new trail that opened up not too long ago with a set of three whoopdie do's. I love those and let out a gleeful sound every time I ride them.

I'll also give a "heck ya" pump of the fist kind of yell when tackling some hard stuff.

    Go girl!

My team memebers and I whoop whoop at each other as a sign of support and recognition while we are racing. Loudly, and with absolute joy...

Holler if you're having fun. Holler if you've just cleared a tough obstacle (tough for you; who cares what other people can do?). Mountain biking is about joy and exhilaration.
