    Lurking No More

    Hello all,
After researching this forum and others, I bought my first "nice" bike - Trek 7.2fx yesterday. I was so excited! After I left the bike shop, I went directly to the local paved path and biked 7 miles. I haven't been on a bike in 2 years and I have gained A LOT of weight since then. My toosh is hurting big time this morning - but I am guessing I should let it adjust before making any saddle changes. I also thought I was slow, and read the interesting thread regarding that. One user said that she was going 0 MPH riding a sofa - and that is me too, so I guess I will be patient. After spending so much money, I guess I hoped for a miracle! I am going back out today, sore bum and all because the weather is beautiful here and I want to log some miles! :-) My wireless computer went out on me after I returned home last night. I'm sure it got knocked around after I struggled for 15 minutes to load it in my backseat. I keep moving the sensor around, but still no luck yet. Hopefully I can get it to "read" again before I go out.

Thanks for inspiring me while I was lurking around to make such a healthy purchase!

    Nice bike! Welcome

Be sure to read some of the saddle threads and see if you can work out why your toosh is hurting. Nothing like unnecessary pain to put you off bike riding... A little sore and bruised is normal, but not numb or badly chafed.

beautiful pic! I've been outside- still trying to get my computer to work again. I know I don't have to have it - but I feel like I do! I have a Trek Incite 6i/8i. I keep realligning it with no success, and have also looked at the Trek website for support. Going back to try again -- Val

    Congratulations on your new bike.
Also, welcome to the Forum. It is good to new people. Be gentle in the beginning. I had been off my bike for a while and I had sore tush too for a while.

Congrats on the new bike, Val. May you have many long and delightful rides together.
In addition to the comments about changing the seat, my suggestion is to give your body (specifically your bottom ) a chance to adjust to the new demands you are making of it. I don't ride during the winter months, so each spring it takes a few rides/weeks before I get what I call my 'butt calluses" . Until then, it hurts to ride, it hurts to sit.......
