Take It On the Run: Week of July 21

    Everyone taking the week off?
I ran Tuesday at our cabin -- hot and bad run -- posted elsewhere (involved my dog getting attacked by dogs, and me by a wasp), but made it through only 3 miles.

Hit the treadmill today -- 3 miles at 6 to 6.2 mph, and then walked to 50 minutes total at 4.5 mph.

Realized that I've been really slacking on my running since my tri 4 weeks ago. What a drop in cardio ability I've had! Got hit it harder again!

    What's everyone else up to?

Okay, okay, you guilted me into it

I woke up sore all over from my (not too long, not too hard but it FELT hard) ride yesterday. I don't know if it's the anxiety over my health, the jet lag, not having been on the bike for eight days, or what. Needed to do something today though, so I guess a run was it, after not running since Saturday.

So, an easy lope from home. It seemed like I had plenty of cardio reserve, but my legs just didn't want to turn over. I didn't push it, mostly because of my emotional state. 4.25 miles at a 10:51 pace

I had an awesome brick today. I rode downtown to the triathlon site, rode one 10km lap of the bike route and had my best time going up the steep hill (2:00 min) and my overall time good (20:55 with 2 stop lights and a lot of stop signs), then I ran 3km in 17:11 which is a 9:05 min mile. I am stoked! I will be so happy if I can do under 30:00 for the run. I think 28:00 might be do-able. We shall see. The shins felt pretty good too.

Oh, and then I rode 13.5km home and had to climb 4km at the end. (slow.)

4.5 miles on the treadmill... 10:24 pace overall (though two miles were at a 9:40 pace).

    Have a good weekend, all!

Tomorrow is my first "tempo" type run on treadmill (again, new coach and training plan). I'll let you know how it is. To day is "restday"....think I need it to gear up to my tempo run and long run on Sat. (8 miles).
