    Hubby brings home new toys!

Thom just walked through the door with a red Banana Guard, a KeraTherm bottle, better than insulated than a Polar and it has a poop shield! And he got me an inclinometer to mount on my bike.

    Ain't love grand?

OK... I'll ask. I haven't been humiliated by my own stupidity all day.

What in gods name is a poop shield and where does it go?
    no regrets!

Mountain bikers around here often find themselves riding through cow dung. This bottle has a cover that goes over the spout so you don't get icky stuff on it - a poop shield.

What I really like is how long it is supposed to keep things cold though. I often just stop drinking on a really long ride if my bottles aren't cold enough. I'm finicky.

I'm assuming that this is what you mean. I've been wondering about those things. The specs say they fit the "vast majority" of bananas, but here's the thing... You know how bananas come in bunches that are in two rows? I like the bananas in the back row. They are usually straighter. I think the banana guard really works better for the front row bananas that are more curved. Maybe the banana guard people need to make two models.

I really can't afford to get the therapy that I need...

    sorry in advance, admin

Veronica "Thom just walked through the door with a red Banana Guard"

so, and that's when you said "is that a banana guard in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

I can just see the Mastercard ad:

"Banana Guard ____ dollars, KeraTherm bottle with a poop shield ____ dollars, inclinometer ____ dollars. Loving a cyclist? Priceless."

    Nice ad!

    Liked that mastercard ad-
Loving a cyclist is priceless, and I love how our relationship has really blossomed since we began to ride together and share this common joy.

Most the time he dusts me and I get upset that I am not as good, but I try to consider the time he has been cycling to my beginning just over a month ago. He says that where I am for a beginner is very good and don't get discouraged, he is getting ready for a 3 day charity ride and has not been training real long this winter/spring. So he has been pushing himself. He has been riding with other men for 50 miles+ on rolling hills and mountains, and mountain biking every weekend for 2-3 hours. Later rides with me. I feel that I must seem wimpy. But I know I am getting better and stronger as I go. So is he, will I ever catch up to him??? Can I buy something with MC to make me faster??? lol...did not think so. Just got my cyclometer will race against my own time and cadence. Since I am goal oriented this will help me alot!

AutumnBreez I'm right there with you. My hubby has been riding for years and me less than a year. He goes and rides with a club and then comes home to ride with me. I do wonder if he gets tired of going so slow but I guess not cause he always wants to go with me and gives helpful advice when we are on the roads. Without his support I would have never gotten into cycling. Maybe one day I'll be able to keep up with him.

Tatormc, that's the way to think, exactly! A few years ago I was miles per hour a way from keeping up with my dear husband on rides and thought we'd never be able to ride together without him (and I) both being unhappy. I averaged 13 mph on a good ride, he, more like 17-18 mph. Now, several years (and a couple new bikes) later, I can ride with him, especially if I draft off his wheel. Yesterday we rode 55 miles together and averaged 17.3! The good news is, you have more to gain from training, since chances are, he is already about where he is going to stay. You have a lot more "upside potential". Just hang in there, keep working on it, and be thankful that you have a patient and helpful DH!

Thanks Emily for the hope of someday catching up and then some!
