    Ya'll come!

I am having so much fun here at TE with this diverse, rolling pack of betties! Not many of you are in my region, so probably not many are planning on riding the Shiner B.A.S.H. May 14th. It's a 90 mile ride leaving from 3 cities: Austin, San Antonio, and Houston. The finish line is Shiner, Texas, home of the Spoetzel Brewery and Shiner beer. Proceeds benefit the American Lung Association, and there is a concert featuring Robert Earl Keen, among others, at the finish. There is also a concert featuring I-don't-know-who in Dallas the same day, though no ride from Dallas.

How, you may be wondering, can I participate since I live in [the BayArea, Iowa, Oregon, Philly, Ohio]?

Well, on www.shinerbash.com,there is a sweepstakes. Said sweepstakes has two grand prizes. The best one includes round-trip airfare for two to Austin from anywhere in the US, two nights accomodations in Austin, tickets to the concert only (you'd have to register and pay for the ride) and transport to and from the concert. The other grand prize is the same package deal for the Dallas concert-only event.

So, gals, come on down! Enter the sweepstakes and come enjoy a fun ride, a great concert, and some cold beer!

There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness".

You get TWO free Shiner Bocks AND dinner AND a massage AND the concert!!!

No on the Lance. But I rode with a woman the other day with a Lance story. She was riding up a particularly steep road here when along comes a guy from behind and starts pushing her up the hill, in a helpful sort of way, of course. He comes around and she discovers, *gasp* *catch breath* IT'S HIM! He was hanging out at the top when she got there. She thanked him for the boost. He said "You were doing fine, you didn't need it." She was too flabbergasted to say much else.

Very cool Lance story! Those pushes up hill are so great. My hubby does that for me sometimes, when we actually get to ride together!!

Well, much as I'd love to come out to Texas for the ride, I'm pretty sure it ain't gonna happen unless I win the sweepstakes!!

Great story Fixed - and I Love your location! I'm gonna have to pass on the Shiner and just about everything else this year. I'm going to Hungary with my 72 yr old father in Sept and I'm trying really hard to save my pennies for the trip. (of course- decking out a road bike does NOT count in the spending money catagory right?)
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"
