Northern Neck River Ride, September 27

Did anybody do the Northern Neck River Ride last year? If so, any comments about the event? This year it's scheduled for September 27. Looks like it could be a lot of fun---pretty area, great time of year. And it's FLAT! .........

Yes, I did it last year and had a wonderful time. I live down there part time, so I'm familiar with the routes. Mostly flat, yes, with a couple of hills (relatively speaking, they are hills) to keep us from falling asleep. Windy, though, since we're on the water.

    Well-organized and quiet roads.

There's a joint RABA-NNCC ride over July 4 weekend that will be on some of the same roads as the River Ride. Check out the RABA website for details.

Oh, and one more thing, I usually post Northern Neck ride info in the Southeast section (we are in Virginia, after all), so check there, too, if you are interested in such things.

I'd be interested, although I'm in DC, and this would probably be about 4 hours from me, correct?

Julie....D.C. to Kilmarnock, Virginia is 2 hours, according to mapquest.com. You might want to go to mapquest yourself and plug in your address so you get a more accurate estimate.....

Tulip...Thanks for the insights....I'll definitely put this one on my radar screen, 'though I won't sign up until the date gets much closer. I've already had to miss two rides I registered for this summer because of scheduling conflicts or other snafus.

It's more than 2 hours from DC. When I lived in Alexandria, it took 3 hours to get down there.

Julie (and others in DC), to avoid the 395 mess south of DC, go this way:

Wilson Bridge to Indian Head Highway going south (MD 210, I think)
Cut across to Waldorf (big green signs)
At the Best Buy, take a right onto MD 301 and keep going (toll at the Nice Bridge, $2 I think)
Take a left onto VA 3 (there's a Sheetz on the left)
This will bring you right into Kilmarnock (after a while).

This way is much more pleasant without the traffic and hassle of going south on 95.

If I hear anything about the ride, I'll post it here and on Southeast.

Thanks, I would be interested in doing this, especially if others from the list are...
