The man, the myth, the legend!
OMG! I shook hands with Gary freegin Fisher! Yep! I touched him! And he is the coolest, most down to earth guy in the world. Listening to him talk I realized he eats, sleeps, breathes bikes.
My roommate, as it turns out hosted him on his couch in Oregon during a race in 1977. So they reunited and such and I patiently waited to talk to him.
We were rudely interrupted by this obnoxious chick going on and on about making mountain biking a state sanctioned sport in high school. I politely suggested she look at the schools in OR who successfully have teams without it being state sanctioned. I also mentioned that rodeo, old as it is, usually doesn't have state sanctions yet there are successful teams everywhere.
So when she shut up long enough I extended my hand and said "I just want to tell you that the '04 Big Sur GS changed my life, and gave me scars that forever ruined my modeling career." It was so cute, he lit up like a Christmas tree! I think he was pleased to see that someone loved his bike's as much as he did.
Anyway, no pics of me with the man because I put my precious cameras in the hands of no one, but here are a few shots.

Chatting it up in the shirt from that fateful ride.

Working the crowd.

The roommate and The Fish.
"True, but if you throw your panties into the middle of the peloton, someone's likely to get hurt."
