Can I ask a favor re political messages?

    Hello ladies -

Now that election season is swinging into high(er) gear, I would like to make a respectful request that people refrain from political posts, as well as subtle and in-your-face political statements in sig lines, avatars, etc.

This is a cycling forum, remember?

    Thank you.

    - Joanne.

    Edited:

Oh bah, before everyone gets their panties in a knot, forget I said it. This is after all a free country (sorry, free world for our non-US friends) and of course you can say and do whatever the heck you want.

    Thumbs down

    Hmmm...got to disagree.....

One thing I really like about TE...is how the much the topics can vary and there is always something new to talk about/discuss.....

I don't think we should 'limit' what anyone can or can't talk about....

Isn't that is the whole purpose of "off topic" area..... you have Open topic Cycling...and Open topic Non-cycling....

If you want to only discuss cycling only.... only click into those threads...

I say lets not start limiting what can be discussed

    'cept for

not to poke the bear or anything

This is straight from the main page:

Remember, the focus of these forums is women's cycling and fitness. Other forums exist elsewhere on the Internet for involved discussions of religion, politics, etc.

People always have to get their panties in a knot over something.

I think everyone should vote for Big Bird or maybe even Oscar the Grouch. Please don't suggest Kermit, he's too green. But the hecklers (whatever their names are...) they could be entertaining!

I tend to have Unpopular Opinions at times so I've learned to attempt to moderate myself.

I guess I see both sides. Yeah I like thoughtful and intelligent debate but in such a huge forum, there can be hurt feelings. Words come off differently than voices and unless someone has the talent of respecting others opinions while nicely stating their own, some topics can be dangerous.

Then again I'm tired and it's my friday

That's what I was gonna say. You can't get them in knots if you don't bother wearing any!

I never really assumed or noticed that anyone was getting political around here. And, if we did, I'm sure that it would be pretty respectful. I tend to think tough or contentious topics are okay to discuss as long as we all play fair and don't turn it mean.
