A double of you in this world?

Over a decade ago, I saw the The Double Life of Veronique, a French-Polish movie that did release with accolades in the foreign film categories.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dou...V%C3%A9ronique

Movie is based on 2 different lives of women who seem like identical twins, or at least have similar characteristics/personality traits..but take different paths in life. The movie made me wonder occasionally thereafter, about our existence and the path we stumble upon in life while someone else similar to us...is taking a different path parallel to us..but like ships passing at night in this world.

Have you ever met someone that looked like you or mistaken as someone else that looked like you?

I know we are all unique, but I think there are many cases where there is or was a double of us...perhaps in a previous century, in a different country..etc.

I asked this question 5 years ago via another internet forum. A women's. Man, the stories. One woman looked like someone's pyschiatrist. Another woman met the male version of herself.

AND I saw an East Indian version of my partner about 8 years ago in a subway crowd. I nearly freaked out. He had a beard like my partner, etc. but his skin pigment was brown. I nearly ran after the guy to tell him of the double discovery.

One of my sisters does have a "facial" look that could be attributed to several Asian women I've seen on the street.

I knew a woman at work..who whenever she works in Eastern Canadian coast, she gets mistaken by several people. She has a common dark-haired Celtic look in her face, that is probably common.

all I know is that there is someone with exactly the same first, middle and last name.

How about you /any stories? Have you discovered a twin somewhere?

My daughter has a double living right here in Kelowna. They both kept having people tell them they had a twin and the first time I saw pics, I didn't know it wasn't my own daughter. Weird.

I was trying to find pics to show you but I can't find one of my daughter where she is having the same look as the other girl. Maybe you can see the similarity in these two pics? My daughter is holding the mug and looking goofy as usual.

I wish I could find a better facial icon for my reaction without offending.

Well, do you or your daughter know what this other young lady is like? Similar age??

They've met a few times and are facebook friends. Angie works with her sister too. I am going to get Angie to take a picture of herself making the same expression. It's spooky. I'm trying to remember if I had another kid somewhere along the line that I forgot about. LOL...

About 30 years ago, someone told me the story of walking down the street in downtown Birmingham, walking up to someone, shaking his hand and talking to him...thinking he was me.

Then, a year ago, I came face to face with this person, who:
    - looked exactly like me
    - was wearing the same clothes I was wearing at that minute
    - was wearing the same glasses
    - had the same mannerisms with how he looked around and placed his hand in his pockets, etc.

I had the feeling that I was looking at myself on a video tape (you know, where you can't ralate to your appearance in two diminesions)...just that this guy was three dimensional.

My friend and I were "weirded" out by the experience...really really freaky.

Did I go introduce myself? No, I was afraid that if we touched, the universe would end in a cosmic explotion of matter and antimatter

Do I have a twin? I'm adopted, but don't think so. Beside, I was born 1,500 miles away from Birmingham...highly unlikely.

Mr. Silver, I think things like that DO happen and that he COULD be your twin. At any rate, if it were me I couldn't bear to live unless I found out!

Pat Richardson is my twin (Home Improvement). At least when she was on TV all the time, that's what people said to me a lot.

Strangers have told me my whole life that they know someone who looks just like me. The other day I was in Guitar Center. The salesman I was talking to about a guitar couldn't bite his tongue anymore and said, "You know, you look exactly like a friend of mine!" Seeing as I was in Guitar Center, I asked if his friend's name was John Clark, and he said YES!!!! That's my brother. He's a guitar player and has a band. I don't speak to my brother much, but I knew there could only be one connection.

My Dad looked like Jimmy Carter in the '70s.

A Brooks Bros suit coat and bicycle shorts????
Sorry -- you posted a picture of yourself in that, and it is the image I have of you now (regardless of your avatar!).

No twin that I've spotted here....but my family all say I look exactly like my mom did when she was younger. I don't see it.

The Double Life of Veronique is a great movie.

When I was in college, there was another student who apparently looked just like me. I never met her, but my brother swore up and down that I was partying hard at a frat party. I wasn't there (but he was?? He was in high school!) A few other people called my "Stephanie," which is not my name. They had a confused look on their face when they realized I wasn't her.

My SO gets comments all the time about looking like Richard Gere. I can't complain about that!

WOW THAT is very cool and very creeepy at the same time!! Did the guy look at you?? was he looking just as stunned??

Do you regret now not going up to him?

I can imagine that would be a bit awkward, but how do you stop thinking about it when you don't????

When I lived in Florida and was bartending, I had many, many customers come up to me asking when I changed jobs. I had no idea what they were talking about as that was my first bartending gig. Turns out, there is aparently another bartender in the Tampa Bay area that looked exactly like me. I never met her but man, the comments got kind of annoying.

My husband and I went to a strip club (also in FL) together with a group of friends. We were all gathered around a couple of tables on one side of the club. He was positioned so that he faced the other side of the club and noticed a commotion starting up. Some woman (a dancer who was off duty) was throwing somewhat of a fit and her friends were trying to calm her down. I can't remember if it was her or one of her friends, but eventually someone came over an said something to my husband before they realized that he wasn't who they thought he was. The dancer truly thought he was her ex-husband! So, apparently, there is a guy in the Tampa Bay area who looks just like my husband.

Now, if that guy and the bartender who looks like me were to get together, we could really freak people out!

Oh, and I work with a guy who is a dead-ringer for Matthew Fox.

I think you tore a hole in the time-space continuum and were momentarily existing on parallel planes of existence.

Correction --actually the woman's pyschiatrist looked like her. Really, she HAD to switch to a completely different psychiatrist. Just too much.

Wow, mimitab.. BUT if you were on your bike, climbing a hill...she might have wanted to claim that you was her..

And the E. Degeneres look-alike here.

Mr. Silver, too scary. If you shook hands, maybe pouf! the magic would be gone.
