Recovery Drink that's not milk based??

I have a hard time with milk products- they upset my tummy and cause a lot of commotion in the basement.
Anyone know of a recovery drink with the 4:1 carbrotein ratio?

The only one I know of is Syntrax Nectar. Not sure of the ratio, though (it's a protein shake, not recovery). They come in berry and fruit punch-y flavors.

Have you tried using soy milk with the shake you're using now?

I think soymilk is a good idea. I love chocolate soy milk!

As another alternative, you can buy rice protein powder (in bulk or in individual packets) that dissolves well (better than whey protein in my opinion) in juice or water. Maybe mix it up with some gatorade or other sports drink?

+1 on chocolate soy milk. The silk chocolate individual servings of soy mil don't need to be refrigerated.

V8 juice was my favorite recovery drink for a while (someone here on TE suggested it) and then my stomach got grumpy about it. (or the slice of cheddar I was having with it after my rides) Now I'm back on the V8, no problems so far. (and no cheddar... lactose doesn't like me, but I didn't think cheese was gonna cause me trouble)

Reading the back of a can right now: 14g carbs to 3g protein. Mighty darn close to 4:1

Cheap; tasty; no fat; sodium, calcium, and potassium to replace a smidge of electrolytes you sweated out; and no milk products.

These are all great ideas. I am going to check them all out.

I am using a whey based protein drink right now and man o man do I feel crummy after I drink it. It is NASTY. I could go on and on with the somatic stuff, but I'll spare you all the misery!

I like chocolate soy,I can plug my nose and drink V-8 really fast , and haven't tasted the other options.

I will check the other non-tomatery versions of v-8, too. Cheese...........yum!

    Thanks you all.

Fly, I drink Boost which is/was manufactured by the drug company Novartis. It is lactose free, tastes like chocolate milk but is loaded with more vitamins and minerals. Here's the nutritional information.
