Born to Run - Week of April 27

My first run in the daylight - 3.1 miles.

It was my first run with the Oakley Thumps Thom got me too. Music is nice to have and the Thumps are great. I could hear the cars and the ducks quacking in the canal. I saw a little duck family - mama, papa and three ducklings. They weren't too thrilled by my presence on the trail.

It was about 72 degrees out, a little warm compared to my before work runs.

Sunday... it's raining, cold, and very windy here.

Had a 12 mile walk/run scheduled. Couldn't miss it. Did my 12 miles in 2:20 at the gym. Oddly, being on the treadmill for that long never really bothered me.

Otherwise, I got my May Ironman training plan from my coach yesterday. I am going from 10 hours a week to 15 hours a week of training. I keep reminding myself I just have to suck it up... for 4 months. Then it's all over.

Overcast and cool here today, so the temps were lovely on the run. Bluebells are in full bloom so my woodland trail felt like a wonderland.

3 miles on the trail and I felt amazing. Haven't felt this good running since pre-injury. Here's to hoping it lasts.

I had an awesome run today! I stayed with the 12 min run, 1 min walk, but I bumped up my distance to 5.6km. I felt good and strong and this time I listened to Podrunner and chose a faster beat. My HR certainly picked up at the faster pace so I only ran faster for half the time so don't stress my legs too much. Did the first 5km in 32:30 which included 2 min of walking. I'm happy. Getting there slowly but surely. This week, I'll run 15 min, walk 1 min and next Sunday, I'll run 6km.

I wanted to do a trail run today, but after taking a walk with our puppy in the morning, the pollen was getting to me so bad I had to bag it. Hopefully this is the last weekend for really bad tree pollen here in NC. It has been a rough spring with snorfing, sneezing, itchy eyes, coughing, etc. I don't really like taking anything for it except at night, because I find that even the non-drowsy types (like Claritin) make me feel "off".

Back to the treadmill until the yellow stuff is out of the air....

Emily: I'll send you our RAIN.. .it is very cleansing to the air! And you hair, your clothes, etc...

Got an unexpected day off today, so I got in my long run on my schedule after all... was planning on skipping it this week. Glad I didn't!

7 miles, 70 minutes. Kept the HR between 155 and 165 MOST of the time. That was harder on the last couple of miles for me. My legs are tired, but they have been all week. Lungs held up well at this pace.

Sounds like everyone had good runs today!
